Between July 22–25, 2025, the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iași (TUIASI) hosted an international student delegation from the Medical University of Sofia (MUS), Bulgaria, and Munster Technological University (MTU), Ireland, as part of the INGENIUM Student Partnership initiative. This strategic collaboration brought together eight students—four from MUS, two from MTU, and two from TUIASI—to work on a highly innovative project titled Dental Ergonomic Plate.
The project aims to develop a functional prototype of a wearable dental plate designed to hold instruments directly on the dentist’s wrist. The initiative is a joint academic effort that integrates practical clinical insights from dental students with the technical expertise of engineering students. The final goal is to create a validated ergonomic solution that streamlines dental workflows and reduces strain during procedures.

Throughout their stay, students participated in prototype development workshops hosted at TUIASI. A key highlight was the interdisciplinary session led by Dr. Corina Concita from the “Grigore T. Popa” University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Iași (UMF Iași), which explored the historical development and clinical feasibility of dental ergonomic tools.
In addition, Assoc. Prof. Evagrina Dîrtu from TUIASI conducted a specialized academic writing workshop to support the students’ upcoming scientific publication. Students also had the opportunity to explore the university’s cutting-edge facilities, including the TUIASI Racing garage and the university library.
Beyond the technical and academic dimensions, the visit fostered cultural exchange through social events and guided visits to Iași’s key landmarks such as the Palace of Culture, Ștefan cel Mare Street, and local churches. The project exemplifies TUIASI’s commitment to fostering research-driven, interdisciplinary, and international collaboration under the INGENIUM framework.
